Help us keep your home safe and comfortable

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing safe, comfortable and high-quality homes, we carry out regular surveys of all our homes. We work with Rand Associates to complete these surveys, which help us plan future improvements to your home.

To help give us an accurate picture of the overall condition of your home, we aim to complete stock condition surveys on 20% of our homes each year.

What is the survey?

A stock condition survey is a visual inspection of the inside and outside of your home. We will need access to your home so the survey can be completed, which takes approximately 45 minutes.

The surveyor will assess the age and condition of major elements in your home such as the kitchen, bathroom, windows, and doors. They will also carry out an energy survey which will calculate how energy efficient your home is.

Why are the surveys important?

We carry out the surveys for the following reasons:

  • To help us identify where we can make upgrades and improvements to your home in the future.
  • To ensure your home remains safe, warm and in good condition.
  • To gather data which will be used to plan repairs and future investment programmes.
How will I know when a survey will take place at my home?

You will receive a letter from Rand Associates asking you to arrange an appointment for the survey to be carried out. You will also receive a text message and a phone call. To avoid an unplanned visit, we strongly recommend you book your appointment at a time that is convenient for you.

What happens during the survey?
  • The surveyor will need access to all rooms and the outside of your home.
  • They will conduct a visual inspection only.
  • Photographs will be taken of key areas such as your kitchen, bathroom, boiler, consumer unit, and loft insulation.
  • The visit will last around 45 minutes.

Please note:

By allowing this survey to take place, you help us plan future works and continue improving our homes and services for everyone.

How will I know that the survey is the real deal?

The survey will be carried out by a qualified Rand surveyor, who will show a Rand branded identity badge with their photograph when they arrive. If you are in any doubt, do not let them into your home until you have checked their identity with us by calling 0330 303 3000.

By allowing this survey, you help us plan future works and continue improving our homes and services for everyone.
