If you're thinking of installing an electric vehicle charging point at your home, please contact us first, as you’ll need our permission to carry out the work. In some circumstances, we won’t be able to provide permission.

If you'd like to install an electric vehicle (EV) charging point at your home, you'll need to get permission from South Liverpool Homes (SLH) before any work can take place.
To request permission for an EV charging point, you’ll need to fill out a request form. You can find this at the bottom of the page.
You should not start any work on the property until we have given permission for you to do so. We will respond within 10 working days of receiving the completed form by email.
No, we are unable to install a driveway for this purpose.
If you'd like to create a driveway, you'll need to submit a permissions request form. Our Assets team will review your application and, if approved, you'll be responsible for arranging and paying for the work yourself.
We can't approve the installation of EV chargers at homes that don't have a driveway. If you have a private driveway for your property, we'll consider your request.
EV chargers on shared driveways are unlikely to be approved, as charging cables may need to cross land used by other residents.
If you want to access your home from the road using a driveway, you'll need a dropped kerb. Applications for dropped kerbs are managed by Liverpool City Council. You can find more information here.
Things to consider before you apply
Before applying for permission to install an EV charging point, please check the following:
- The charging point must not block access to neighbouring homes, driveways or parking spaces.
- There shouldn’t be any cables trailing over footpaths or roads when the charging point is being used.
- The charging point must not interfere with any major repair work to your home.
- Off-road parking is needed before permission can be granted.
