Let’s Talk Facts – Who Gets Our Homes is a toolkit of values-driven messaging, resources and best practice to help your organisation dispel myths, misinformation and harmful narratives around housing allocations. It’s about listening and having meaningful conversations with customers.
It’s about taking the heat out of what is an emotive subject and replacing it with a deeper understanding of the world we live in. It’s about helping people understand your policies and procedures, and your local and national obligations as a registered housing provider.
The toolkit started life as a campaign that we delivered in south Liverpool during 2025 and 2026, after we experienced misinformation and harmful narratives in our online space and in our communities.
We listened and learned from our customers and produced a multimedia digital campaign and a series of in-person events. The learnings from the campaign have now become business as usual for us, as we develop new homes and welcome new people onto our waiting list and into our communities.
We’d like to share these learnings with the sector, so we’ve produced a toolkit that you can adopt, adapt and use, to help counter misinformation in your communities. Moreover, we would like to bring together a community of housing providers who are grappling with this issue and make ‘Let’s Talk Facts – Who Gets Our Homes’ a common, values-led language that we can all speak.
Why “Let’s Talk Facts”?
We chose “Let’s Talk Facts” deliberately. It reflects a shared responsibility across housing associations to talk openly, honestly and respectfully about who gets our homes.
This isn’t about telling people what to think. It’s about creating space for facts, listening to questions, and challenging harmful myths together.
