Let's talk paving - DIY or SLH?

As the weather improves, we see a rise in requests for paving repairs, new patios and driveways. To help avoid confusion, here’s a simple guide to what SLH is responsible for – and what falls under your responsibility.

We are responsible for health and safety issues, such as removing trip hazards, on paths and walkways that SLH originally installed. We also look after paving and surfaces in communal areas.

However, new paving, patios, driveways or garden improvements are usually the tenant’s responsibility. This includes extending existing paved areas or laying turf in your own garden.

Before submitting a repair request, we recommend checking our full responsibilities guide on the website. It’s part of our ‘DIY or SLH’ approach – helping you quickly understand who does what and saving time for everyone.

Always remember to contact us and ask for permission before doing any major work on your home.
