South Liverpool Homes (SLH) has opened recruitment for a new Chair of the Board, offering an important leadership opportunity as the organisation looks ahead to its next phase of growth and community impact.

With remuneration of £12,512 per year plus reasonable expenses, the role will be based in Speke and will play a pivotal part in shaping SLH’s strategic direction.

SLH is a purpose‑driven, independent, community‑focused organisation serving Speke, Garston and the wider South Liverpool area. We are proud to have achieved the highest regulatory ratings – G1, V1 and C1 – for governance, viability and consumer standards. This reflects the dedication of colleagues, the SLH Board, Executive Team and our customers, all working together to deliver excellent services.

We currently manage around 3,830 homes and are committed to investing £52 million to keep them well maintained, safe and energy efficient, as well as building 780 new homes by 2032. But our mission goes far beyond housing; we are passionate about delivering services that help our tenants thrive. The area we serve faces significant challenges, so we are committed to offering services that empower tenants, tackle inequalities and strengthen our neighbourhoods.

As our current Chair steps down in September 2026, we are now seeking a successor with vision, expertise and a genuine passion for making a difference. The successful candidate will bring senior‑level experience from a regulated environment, strong strategic financial acumen, and a balanced approach to risk. Most importantly, they will value community, collaboration and the opportunity to influence SLH’s future impact.

The Chair will ensure the Board leads and actively contributes to the delivery of SLH’s corporate plan, safeguarding our long‑term sustainability and viability. They will also set a positive leadership culture, championing strong customer focus aligned to our corporate objectives and values.

This is more than a leadership position; it is an opportunity to shape the future of a dynamic organisation and the communities we serve. The expected time commitment is around three days per month. The term of office is three years, with the possibility of re‑appointment for a maximum of two terms.

We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds and experiences who share our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
