Avela Home Service LLP is a joint venture between Avela Services and Penny Lane Builders, and delivers repairs and maintenance to thousands of homes in the social rented sector.

Avela Home Service re-invests its profits into the local community and offers job and apprenticeship opportunities for local people.

Avela Home Service's activities include but are not limited to:

• Cyclical and planned improvement works
• Specialist property adaptations

Lee Payne - Avela Services Chair
Lee has 25 years’ experience in housing having worked in both the local government and housing association sectors. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing and currently leads the Housing and Investment Service at Sefton Council. He has experience in housing management, regeneration and development, asset management, homelessness, strategic and private sector housing.

Chris Heath
Chris is a Chartered Surveyor and degree qualified Quantity Surveyor, with a background in construction, engineering and property development within local government and the private sector, in the UK and the Middle East. He is currently Managing Director of Cube Homes, the private sector residential development arm of Great Places Housing Group.

Karen Lowe
Karen is a risk management professional with over 25 years working across a wide range of sectors in the UK and internationally.  She is a qualified Local Counter Fraud Specialist and Chartered Accountant, with experience in areas such as corporate governance, fraud risk management, internal audit, business continuity and legal compliance.

She was born and raised in Liverpool, and has worked with several housing associations of various sizes in the north of England and across Scotland. 

David Jepson
David has had over 30 years experience in social housing starting his career with new build housing co-operatives in Liverpool. He went on to work with the national housing consultancy Chapman Hendy Associates and then moved on to The Riverside Group.

He has had over 16 years experience of senior management including as deputy chief executive at Riverside and as Chief Executive in several other organisations. He has wide experience of urban regeneration, private finance initiatives, stock transfers, mergers, and the establishment of commercial ventures. He has also had a wide range of experience in governance in both executive and non-executive roles.

Mark Chambers
Mark joined SLH in June 2021 after spending 16 years working in local government starting as a trainee accountant and progressing to senior finance, performance and commissioning roles.

Mark is responsible for ensuring the financial viability and integrity of the Group through the effective financial control and provision of financial and treasury services to provide the foundation for the achievement of the organisation’s strategic priorities.

Angela Perry
Angela began her housing career in 1990 and since then she has carried out a variety of roles across Cheshire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Yorkshire, where she was Assistant Chief Executive at Incommunities Housing Group in Bradford.

Angela has extensive strategic experience and a strong track record in asset management, repairs and maintenance and customer services, as well as a strong desire to make a difference to the communities and neighbourhoods where she works.
