With preparations well underway at South Parade, here’s an update on progress at the 92-home development in Speke.
South Parade is a major redevelopment in a central location in Speke, with a mix of two, three and four-bedroom houses, bungalows and apartments, for social rent, affordable rent, rent to buy and shared ownership.
We’ve had lots of interest in the development from local people, who are keen to know more about how the area will be redeveloped, progress on site, and how the new homes will be allocated.
The South Parade development will redevelop the area between South Parade, Conleach Road, Ganworth Road and Dam Wood Road. Watch the video to see how we plan to transform the area.
Allocations
Thank you for the interest in the homes so far. As we have only just started work on site, it is too early to start allocating homes. However, we’ve had some questions about how the process will work.
Homes for social and affordable rent will be allocated in line with our allocations policy. As with many new build schemes in Liverpool that receive funding from the Government, Liverpool City Council will nominate people who have applied for a home through Property Pool Plus. We will then work alongside Liverpool City Council to ensure that we allocate homes that satisfy the needs of the wider Liverpool area, as well as applicants on our waiting list.

Further information about rent to buy and shared ownership can be found on our home ownership page.
Latest progress on site
To progress with the scheme, and in accordance with environmental and tree protection guidelines, we have recently removed a number of trees, saplings and bushes on the site of the former St Aidan’s Church, to clear the ground ready for construction.
We understand that the removal of trees may concern residents, and that greenspace is a vital part of any community. That’s why we have included a new area of open space as part of the development, a need that was identified during public consultation prior to submitting our planning application. We will be replanting on the site to compensate for the loss of trees elsewhere.
Alongside open space, environmentally-friendly construction is also a top priority. All homes will be built to EPC A standards and will include electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
What’s next?
In the coming weeks, we are due to enter construction contracts with GK Construction and Project Management who will begin work on site. They will initially continue with the remaining site clearance before working on the foundations to the first few homes.
When complete, South Parade will be a major step towards our goal to build 280 new homes across south Liverpool by 2027, to address the need for high-quality, affordable homes in the area.
