Work is due to start at my home

Check out the FAQs below to answer any questions you may have if work is due to start at your home.

What happens next?

The contractor should have scheduled a start date with you.

Getting ready for the work to start

Before work begins, you will need to clear your personal belongings away from work areas. This includes cupboards, floors, furniture, appliances, decorations, pictures, mirrors, clocks, and anything you don't want to get damaged. If you need help moving things or packing, please tell us before the work starts. For more information on how to get ready, check the "what the work will include" page and choose the type of work that’s being done.

I need to re-arrange the date when work will start

If you want to change when work starts, let the contractor know at least one day before.

Do I need to be home to let workers in?

Yes, you need to be at home to let the contractor in. During the work, the contractor will tell you when they will be arriving from day to day. Some days, they may not need to enter your home, depending on the work.
