Following demolition of the derelict shops and apartments on Western Avenue in Speke, we are delighted to let you know that work will start on site in March this year.

The new development will feature a purpose-built shop and eight one-bedroom apartments specially designed for people over the age of 55.

The development is paving the way for the transformation of an area that is seen as a gateway location to Speke, giving its close proximity to the airport.

The apartments, which will be available for social rent, will be tailored for older residents and designed to adapt to changing needs. They will include level-access shower enclosures and lift access to all apartments.

Built to EPC A standard, the eight apartments will include solar PV panels, energy-efficient heating and hot water systems, and electric vehicle charging points as standard.

The scheme is likely to be completed early 2026.
