We are pleased to announce that South Liverpool Homes (SLH) is one of 56 organisations from across the Liverpool City Region that have been awarded 'Aspiring' status of the Mayor’s Fair Employment Charter.

Employers across the region have backed Mayor Steve Rotheram’s campaign against poverty pay and zero-hours contracts in a bid to protect workers being hit by the worst cost of living crisis in a generation.

The charter encourages businesses to pay their staff a Real Living Wage, clamp down on the use of zero-hours contracts, provide mental health support, encourage flexible working and engage with trade unions.

To achieve Aspiring status SLH had to provide evidence that it met a number of criteria under four main themes:

  • Healthy – safe workplaces supporting a healthy workforce
  • Fair – fair pay and fair hours
  • Inclusive – workplaces that support staff to grow and develop
  • Just – giving a voice to staff to help deliver justice in the workplace
Colin Gibson

“Being part of Liverpool City Region’s initiative to promote fair employment is important for SLH and we particularly welcome the opportunity to further demonstrate our commitment to listening to the colleague voice and championing inclusion, while ensuring that SLH remains a healthy working environment.”

- Colin Gibson, South Liverpool Homes’ Executive Director of Culture and Communications said:

Signing the charter commits companies to recognising trade unions, using local labour and supply chains, and giving colleagues opportunities to progress and thrive – especially those from underrepresented groups.

Those organisations who have achieved Aspiring status will go on to work towards ‘Accredited’ status to further reinforce their commitment to the charter.
