Work starts on new development on South Parade, part of SLH’s ambitious new-build programme

Work has officially started on the regeneration of South Parade in Speke. This major redevelopment will see 92 new homes being built, offering a diverse range of housing options to meet the needs of the community. 

The scheme, located in the heart of Speke, is set to transform the area with a mix of two, three, and four-bedroom houses, bungalows, and apartments. These homes will be available for social rent, affordable rent, rent to buy, and shared ownership, ensuring that there are housing options for everyone. 

SLH has appointed contractor GK Construction to redevelop the area between South Parade, Conleach Road, Ganworth Road and Dam Wood Road, and work has already started on site. 

The homes will be built to EPC A and will feature solar PV panels, highly efficient electric heating and electric charging points. All these measures will support customers to keep their energy bills down and reduce their carbon emissions.

Whether it's families looking for spacious houses, people seeking affordable apartments, or those interested in taking a first step into home ownership, the redevelopment really does offer something for everyone.” 

“To address the shortage of adaptable and accessible homes, 14 homes will be wheelchair-accessible and the inclusion of bungalows will help address the needs of the growing older population in the area.” 

SLH has just significantly increased the size of its new development programme to address the growing need for affordable housing. The housing association plans to build 780 new homes by 2032, spanning across the South Liverpool area. 

Adam Smith continued: “The substantial increase in our new development programme reflects our commitment to providing a range of good-quality, affordable housing in the area as well as helping to meet government’s 1.5million new homes target. We are keen to explore new opportunities throughout Speke, Garston and the wider South Liverpool area, contributing to the economic growth of our communities.” 

The first homes are expected to be ready by summer 2026, with the development expected to be completed by spring 2027.
