Partnership effort to reduce anti-social behaviour in Speke

Published: 10 March 2025
We are aware of the recent rise in youth anti-social behaviour (ASB) in Speke and are working closely with local organisations to address the issues and ensure a stronger and safer community for everyone that lives and work here.
The safety of residents is our top priority. An urgent partnership meeting was held on 4 March with key stakeholders, including Merseyside Police, Liverpool City Council and local businesses to discuss the growing concerns and to agree how we will collectively tackle the problem. We will continue to meet with key partners every fortnight to review progress and agree a way forward.
We are focused on tackling the root causes of this behaviour as well as ensuring long-lasting strategies are put in place to minimise the impact on our communities. Here are some of the actions we and our partners are taking to address the problem:
- We are working with key partners including local businesses, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, Merseyside Police and Liverpool City council to identify the areas affected by ASB and give reassurance to those affected.
- Working with Merseyside Police, we have identified some of the young people who are involved and are engaging with them and their families. This will involve a mix of support and enforcement, depending on the individual circumstances. For the more severe cases, we will ensure to take the necessary enforcement action to protect the local community.
- We are supporting Merseyside Police by actively engaging with residents through door-to-door activities in hotspot areas. Through this joint approach, we are hoping to gather more crucial information from the community, which will help us focus our efforts in the right place, as well as providing support where it is most needed.
- Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service Street Intervention Teams have been visiting Speke on Friday evenings to engage with teenagers and young people congregating in the area.
- A joint surgery will take place monthly with South Liverpool Homes, Merseyside Police and Liverpool City Council so members of the community can drop in to speak to us about any concerns they may have. We will let you know the date of the next surgery as soon as possible.
We encourage all residents to continue to speak to us about any concerns they have. You can report anti-social behaviour directly through our website or by calling 999 in any emergency or 101 in non-emergency situations. Reporting incidents is vital to help us build a full picture of the ongoing situation and take the necessary action.
Thanks for your support to help us tackle this issue together.
