SLH’s reception and community shop officially reopen after refurbishment

Our newly refurbished reception in Parklands, Speke, and our community shop, The Market Place officially re-opened last Friday 6 December, with a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony!

Our reception area, The Market Place and The Market Place Social have all undergone a full refurbishment, which began in September, and it was wonderful to see so many customers come along to mark the occasion with us!

We hope that the new areas offer a fresh and welcoming environment, with improved accessibility features that aim to meet the needs of more of our customers.

Alongside the fresh look, one of the key changes is the extension of the SLH reception open hours. It will now be open from 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday, giving customers more flexibility if they want to speak to us face-to-face.

Our community shop, The Market Place, has transformed to provide a better shopping experience with wider aisles suitable for mobility aids including wheelchairs and scooters. Over 50 customers came along to do their weekly shop on Friday, with more customers signing up to become a member on the day. And it’s now easier to access The Market Place Social, a space for customers to connect with each other, from the front of the shop.

The refurbishment works were made with customers in mind, ensuring that the reception, the shop and the social space are all welcoming and accessible places for everyone in our community. The extended open hours are especially good news, allowing us to deal with more customers face-to-face throughout the day.”
