Challenging stereotypes – International Women’s Day at Reach!
Published: 20 February 2024
Challenging stereotypes and gender roles in the workplace is more important than ever. On Friday 8 March we’ll be celebrating International Women’s Day by hosting an event at Reach. Roles in typically male-dominated occupations are breaking gender stereotypes and this is a topic we want to delve into deeper with you.
This year’s theme is ‘Inspiring Inclusion’, which can mean different things to different people. But to us, it means equipping people with the knowledge and skills to achieve anything they want. Careers are no longer dictated by gender, and here at Reach, we champion equal opportunities for all.
On Friday 8 March between 1pm and 3pm, we’ll be joined by a panel of inspiring women from a variety of industries; sharing their career stories and exploring nontraditional gender occupations.
According to data released by the Office for National Statistics in February 2023, only 15% of the construction workforce is female. We’ll be joined by two employees from Robertson Constuction North West to discuss this along with the obstacles they have overcome whilst working in a male-dominated industry.
The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, councillor Mary Rasmussen, will also be coming along to speak about her career in local politics and celebrating the role of women in this industy.
