Upcoming courses at Reach: January 2024

We’ve got an exciting few months ahead, here at Reach. With brand new courses and qualifications launching, discover the possibilities of a new career with us. Keep reading to find out more and how you can get involved! 

Get your CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card at Reach 

Kick-start your career in construction by securing your Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) examination. The course, in partnership with Inside Connections, is free and open to everyone aged 19+. 

It’s a five-day course, starting on Monday 29 January until Friday 2 February.   

The course will cover all key aspects of the CSCS exam, and the week is dedicated to sharpening your knowledge and putting it to the test. Plus, everyone who attends will have the opportunity to interview to work at Bramley Moore Dock, the new Everton Stadium!

Explore Level 2 qualifications! 

We’ve partnered with our friends at Speke Training and Education Centre (STEC) to deliver four Level 2 qualifications this February. These are one-day courses held at Reach and Level 2 is available in a wide range of sectors! 

  • Level 2 Health & Safety – Thursday 1 February 2024

A thorough understanding of health and safety is essential for every worker, regardless of job role and industry. This course will cover the most crucial aspects of health and safety that are present in every work environment, including display screen equipment (DSE), manual handling, work equipment, and fire and electrical safety.   

  • Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene – Thursday 8 February 2024 

This course is suitable for anyone who handles, prepares or serves food in the catering industry. You will understand the principles of food hygiene and know how to work safely to protect the food they serve from contamination. 

  • Level 2 Nutrition and Health – Thursday 15 February 2024 

Looking to learn more about good nutrition and health? This level 2 certificate in understanding nutrition and health will cover healthy eating and weight management and how to prepare food safely in a home environment. 

  • Level 2 Manual Handling – Thursday 22 February 2024  

This manual handling course ensures all workers understand why it is important to be able to physically navigate the work environment safely, and how to do so. It provides training on how all manual activities done in the workplace can be done safely.

Finding work at 50+ - what are your options?  

If you’ve been out of work for a while or settled in the same role, it can be harder to seek a career change. To help bridge the gap, we’ve partnered with Crosby Training to host Positive Futures 50+.  

The four-week course is for jobseekers aged 50 years and over. Starting on Monday 12 February, the course will run for four weeks on the dates below.  

Week 1 – Mon 12 February – Fri16 February, 9.30am - 2.30pm 

Week 2 – Wed21 February & Thurs 22 February, 9.30am - 2.30pm 

Week 3 – Wed 28 February & Thurs 29 February, 9.30am - 2.30pm  

Week 4 – Wed 6 March & Thurs 7 March, 9.30am - 2.30pm.  

The course will include group activities and 1-2-1 sessions with the course leaders. Here you will be inspired to be strategic and adapt a tactical approach to seeking employment with the aim of moving closer to the jobs market.  

The sessions will also tackle job search barriers such as a lack of confidence in your digital job searching skills, presentation and interview skills.  

Refreshments and a light lunch will be included.
