Welcome to our latest monthly roundup of ways to get involved with SLH and in your community. And now summer has officially arrived, we’ve got some properly summery things to get involved with!
Get ready for festival season with our Tie Dye Party
Fancy creating a cool tie-dye t-shirt or pair of socks, perfect for the festival season? Come along to our tie-dye party at Grow Speke on Wednesday 29 June at 11am.
We will help you create that perfect Glasto look! Just don’t go mad and tie-dye the kids’ school shirts!

Forget Wimbledon – it’s Touch Tennis at Grow Speke
With Wimbledon around the corner, we thought it would be great to run our own Touch Tennis sessions at Grow Speke. Touch Tennis has similar rules to tennis but is played on a smaller court and uses foam balls. Unlike regular tennis where speed and strength are crucial to succeeding, this game requires more placement and strategy, which makes it ideal for those with long-term health conditions or those just looking to have a bit of fun.
Sessions run each Thursday from 30 June – 21 July, 11am-12pm.
ℹ Find out more and book a place at firstname.lastname@example.org
Film Club: Watch Big at the Coffee Vault
Come along to The Coffee Vault, St Marys Road, on 30th June to watch the Tom Hanks classic, Big. Josh Baskin (Tom Hanks) is a young boy who makes a wish to be ‘big’ and is then aged to adulthood overnight. The film starts 1pm and refreshments are provided.
ℹ Email us to book your place at email@example.com
Just Bee Gorgeous – lip balm making
Beeswax contains natural emulsifiers that help retain moisture, making it a great ingredient for dry, chapped lips. Join our workshop to make your own beeswax lip balm, on 13 July, 10.30am at Grow Speke.
Shhh, don’t tell the Grow Speke bees – they’ll be fuming!
Places are limited so booking is essential!

Discover The Reading Rooms in Garston
