We’re delighted to announce that applications are now live to join South Liverpool Homes (SLH) Board.

We’re aiming to recruit three new Board Members and we’re looking for a blend of professional experience and local knowledge to help us navigate through exciting times, as we embark upon our new five-year corporate plan 2022-2027. We are also keen to increase the diversity and inclusivity of our board to ensure that the views of the whole community are represented.

SLH Board is responsible for ensuring the success of the organisation and our compliance with all legal and regulatory obligations. As a Board Member, you will contribute to this by supporting effective strategic leadership and control of SLH, acting in the best interests of the organisation.

That’s why it’s important that our new board members have the right blend of knowledge, skills and experience to make robust decisions with the community in mind.

With this in mind, we’re looking for candidates with:

• A sound understanding of the Speke and Garston communities and their needs and aspirations and the ability to champion those needs, while staying abreast of local and national issues that might impact on our customers and communities.

and/or

• Professional expertise in property development and strategic asset management, with a sound knowledge of zero-carbon reduction.

SLH is a forward-thinking and dynamic organisation that truly has our tenants at the heart of what we do. Although our core purpose is as a social landlord, we do so much more. We provide services that help change lives. Below is a flavour of what’s been achieved during our previous seven-year Corporate Plan:

• Supported over 1,000 customers into employment and apprenticeships and 2,000 into training through Reach, our employability hub.
• Supported customers to claim over £8m in additional benefits through our Benefits Advice Team.
• Launched our community shop - The Market Place – which has over 1,000 members.
• Completed 223 new homes, launching the first affordable home ownership homes in Speke.
• Invested £31.4m in our current homes.
• Launched Grow Speke, a community garden initiative supported by a range of local partners including Groundwork and Merseyside Police.
