Royal British Legion memorial move postponed due to social distancing changes

Published: 15 September 2020
Following the latest changes to social distancing legislation, South Liverpool Homes and the Royal Navy have made the difficult decision to postpone the move of the memorial at the former Royal British Legion club on Dam Wood Road, Speke.
The memorial was due to be moved on 4 October, to a new site at All Saints Church. However, to help prevent the spread of coronavirus and abide by the new laws prohibiting groups of more than six people meeting indoors or outdoors, we have postponed the event with a provisional date of Sunday 6 December.
This decision has been made in consultation with the families of the 118 ex-services personnel remembered at the memorial. We will closely monitor the situation, and future government guidance, to ensure that the event can take place while respecting the health and safety of everyone involved.
