Meet our new Community Investment Team
Published: 24 June 2020
You spoke – we listened. Back in 2019 we conducted our Everyone Together survey, when all our staff hit the streets (and the phones!) with the aim of speaking to every one of our 3,700 tenants.
We asked a number of questions about your homes, your neighbourhoods and your wellbeing. And one of the biggest takeaways from your feedback was the importance of SLH playing its part in investing in the communities of Speke and Garston.
With this in mind we’ve set up a brand new team, called the Community Investment Team who will do exactly what it says on the tin. The team will be made up of five members of staff, each specialising in a different area of community investment.
Two new roles have been created, a Community Health and Wellbeing Officer and coming soon, an Environmental Officer. These will join forces with our existing Customer Engagement Officer and the Enterprise Team, who currently deliver Reach, Marketplace and Grow Speke.
The Community Investment Team will be working closely with partners to help improve our tenants' health and wellbeing, the condition of our neighbourhoods and promote training and employment opportunities. They will create more opportunities for tenants to become involved in groups and activities across South Liverpool.
Meet the team
Selina Wall-Aldis – Customer Engagement Officer
Selina’s role within the community investment team will be to engage with as many of our tenants as possible, listening to their views and making sure that they are heard. Selina will also be working with a number of different partners within Speke and Garston to improve our presence in the local community.
Thomas Hayes – Health and Wellbeing Officer
Thomas’ role will focus on supporting tenants so that they are empowered to make decisions that will have a positive impact on their health and wellbeing. The role will also build links with partner agencies to enable us to compliment what is already happening within the community and to bridge any gaps in health and wellbeing provision.
Sam Turner – Information, Advice and Guidance Administrator
Part of the existing Enterprise Team, Sam’s role is to collect knowledge on all of Reach’s partners in order to signpost our customers to the partner that will best resolve their issue. Sam works in partnership with different advice providers to achieve the best possible outcomes for our customers.
Laura Murphy – Enterprise Officer
Laura’s role is to create opportunities for SLH tenants that will help them to access services that will support them in to employment, education or training. Her role is also to co-ordinate the volunteers to run SLH’s community shop, The Market Place.
Environmental Officer – Coming soon
When appointed, our Environmental Officer will work closely with the community and local partners to help improve the local environment, focusing on issues such as fly-tipping, abandoned vehicles, dog fouling and household waste. The new role will also promote the great environmental work that’s happening in our local community and our local contribution to combatting global climate change.
