Free stop-smoking programme relaunched in Speke and Garston
Published: 22 January 2020
If you’ve been thinking about quitting smoking this year, then you don’t need to do it alone! South Liverpool Homes tenants can now access free face-to-face support in Speke and Garston through the Smoke Free Homes programme.
The free stop-smoking programme was officially launched back in May 2019 and is being led by South Liverpool Homes, Liverpool City Council, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, SmokeFree Liverpool and Liverpool Clinical Commissioning Group.
It’s all about supporting tenants who choose to maintain a smoke free environment in their homes. As well as supporting people to stop smoking, the programme focuses on protecting others from second-hand smoke and reducing smoking-related fires in homes.
With many people wishing to make a positive lifestyle change following the New Year, the campaign has now opened up to anyone who wants to quit smoking altogether, rather than just those who wish to make their home smokefree by taking their smoking outside.
If you’re looking to ditch the cigarettes for good, then the Smoke Free Homes programme will give you somewhere to start. A little encouragement and guidance from a professional advisor can go a long way.
By signing up to Smoke Free Homes, you’ll get:
- Free face-to-face support from a SmokeFree Liverpool advisor.
- Access to expert advice over the telephone seven days a week.
- A plan of action and help to address any problems you may be facing.
- Treatment to help you stop smoking such as Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), Champix or Zyban.
- Option for a free safety check in your home from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service.
Once you're signed up, we’ll get in touch and ask you to complete a brief survey. Your responses will help to inform the rest of the campaign.
You will also receive a window sticker with the Smoke Free Homes logo on it, designed by a local primary school pupil. By displaying the logo on your window or front door, you can politely ask your guests not to smoke indoors.
