SLH delivers festive hampers to those in need
Published: 10 December 2019
Christmas has come early for South Liverpool Homes (SLH) tenants this week as festive food hampers were delivered across Speke and Garston.
Over 100 tenants received Christmas treats yesterday when SLH staff, dressed in festive costumes, hit the streets to hand out hampers brimmed with Christmas goodies to tenants who are most in need.
Filled with luxury items such as mince pies, biscuits and chocolate as well as the essentials such as vegetables and soup, the hampers made sure that people who may be struggling don’t go without at this time of the year.
“This is the highlight of the SLH calendar,” said South Liverpool Homes Chief Executive Julie Fadden. “Christmas can be a tough time for some families and the hampers are a small gesture to help relieve some of the pressures associated with Christmas as well as helping to spread some festive cheer in our communities.”
“Christmas is about bringing people together and this is our way of saying we care and we are thinking about you at this time of the year.”
Santa and his helpers made a surprise visit to local primary schools too where 11 children won a voucher for a brand-new bike as part of a special prize draw. The children will be able to pick their new bike in time for Christmas.
The Christmas hamper delivery is a tradition at SLH, where every year staff who work closely with individuals and families, nominate tenants who they feel are most in need of a hamper.
