Struggling to pay your rent?

If you're struggling to pay your rent, please don't ignore it. Our Income team and Benefits Advice team can give you all the guidance and support you need. Our priority is to support tenants to stay in their homes and manage their tenancies well.

If you have fallen into arrears, we are here to offer you support and advice. The important thing is to get in touch with us as we can help you get your account back on track.

We will put you in touch with your income officer who will chat to you about your individual circumstances and put a package of support together to help you reduce any existing arrears.

We can refer you to our Benefits Advice team who can check that you are receiving the benefits you're entitled to and help. We can also signpost you to independent debt advice.

If you are struggling to make ends meet, we can support you with the rise in cost of living, through the services we offer.

It is really important that you engage with us so that you are not at risk of losing your home. If you do not engage with us and you don’t make any rent payments, we will be forced to take further action against you, which unfortunately can put your home at risk. You may also incur additional costs such as court costs.

Nominate an advocate to manage your rent account

You can nominate a trusted person to deal with your rent account if you’re struggling to manage it yourself, due to poor mental health or other additional needs.

If you’re struggling to manage your account, contact us to complete a consent form, which will give someone else the authority to act on your behalf.

Alternatively you can download and complete the consent form here.

Short grace period for customers struggling to manage their rent due to poor mental health

Tenants who are experiencing poor mental and struggling to manage their rent can apply for a short break, or grace period, giving them extra time to settle their arrears whilst they work with our support services such as tenancy support, health and wellbeing, and benefits advice.

Contact your income officer on 0330 303 3000 to discuss if you are eligible to apply.
