The Market Place
The Market Place is South Liverpool Homes' volunteer-run community shop in Speke which offers food and essential household goods to all SLH tenants who need them.
The Market Place is owned and run by South Liverpool Homes. The shop links with food charity FareShare and other local sources of food and household goods, allowing residents on a low income to gain access to essential goods at a vastly-reduced price. The Market Place was set up by a small project team at South Liverpool Homes and is run solely by volunteers.
Once you become a member you can visit the shop and, in exchange for £3.00, you will be able to choose goods to the approximate value of £15.
Foodbank vouchers
SLH can issue foodbank vouchers to tenants who are suffering from extreme hardship, which can be exchanged for food and household goods at:

The Orchard Liverpool runs a community foodbank from Speke Training and Education Centre (STEC), which is available to everyone who needs help, without a referral or a voucher.

Liverpool Zero Waste Community
This is a charitable group that distributes surplus food from supermarkets, which would otherwise be thrown away. Anyone can contact them to book a pickup slot from two local venues in Speke and Garston. All instructions, venues and times are on their Facebook page. Find out more
Your Local Pantry, St Mary's Church, Grassendale
For a weekly subscription of £3.50, members of this pantry will have access to fresh fruit and vegetables and store cupboard favourites, often worth £15-20 or more. Membership is open to the whole community.
