Helping you to get involved
We really appreciate everyone who gives up their time to help us improve our services and want to make it as easy as possible for you to get involved.
Scrutiny Panel is a group of tenants who ensure that the services we provide are effective, efficient and represent good value for money. Joining the Scrutiny Panel provides you with the opportunity to work with us to review our procedures and policies from a customer perspective.
They have a formal meeting once a month but meet more regularly when they are carrying out reviews into different aspects of our services. You will be given full training which will give you a better understanding of the services we provide as well as giving you the knowledge and confidence to be part in the panel.

This is the highest level of involvement where you can contribute to the running and management of SLH through formal meetings. The Board is made up of independent members and tenants who make strategic decisions that ensure we are meeting our aims and objectives.

We are committed to ensuring Board members’ time is as productive and effective as possible. Therefore, we offer full training and support to help members carry out their duties so that they can make a positive contribution to the strategic direction of SLH.
Anyone interested in becoming a board member will be given:
- The opportunity to observe a board meeting to gain a greater understanding of what happens
- A full induction to the role
- Access to training and development if required
- Access to IT facilities to help carry out their duties
- Shadowing opportunities to gain further knowledge of how different teams at SLH operate
- An annual appraisal to help identify strengths and weaknesses
Other training opportunities may take place across other engagement activities as and when required.
You won't be out of pocket
We will reimburse travel expenses as a thank you for giving up your time.
Involvement in community events
We sometimes run events to give you more information and advice. We’ll let you know when they are happening through our website and social media.
Take part in focus groups
Focus groups help shape the different services we offer by discussing matters relating to your home and neighbourhood. We invite people along to the meetings who we feel are in the best position to have a say on these services.
Take part in satisfaction surveys
Surveys are an easy way for you to give your views from the comfort of your own home. They can be regular surveys, such as the satisfaction surveys we carry out after you have had a repair done or one-off surveys about a particular issue. A third party company, IFF Voluntas, carry out a larger survey to 50 tenants each month to find out how satisfied you are with SLH overall.
