Take part in The Big SLH Pebble Hunt!

This August we’re launching two pebble hunts in Speke and Garston during the summer holidays!

SLH chief executive introduces The Big SLH Pebble Hunt

South Liverpool Homes Chief Executive, Anna Bishop swapped the boardroom for the craft room recently, to spend time with some of our tenants, painting pebbles for The Big SLH Pebble Hunt.

Here she explains what the pebble hunt is all about and how it fits into our 25th birthday celebrations.

Here's how you can get involved!

Bringing people together, a pebble at a time

We’ve hidden over 100 beautifully painted pebbles across our communities, and everyone is welcome to hunt them down.

Local community groups at The Market Place Social and Bridge Chapel have decorated pebbles for the hunt, plus students from Banks Road Primary School, St Christopher's Catholic Primary School and Holy Trinity Catholic Primary School, have taken part.

The aim of the pebble hunts is to provide families with a fun, free holiday activity during the summer break. Explore your communities to find the specially decorated pebbles and celebrate our amazing places on your doorstep.

We’re hosting two breakfast clubs in Speke and Garston to launch the pebble hunt;

  • Tuesday 13 August, 10am - 12pm outside The Market Place, Parklands Atrium, L24 0TY, Speke
  • Thursday 15 August, 10am - 12pm at Garston Adventure Playground, Bowden Road, L19 1QP, Garston

Both events are free to attend, and everybody is welcome. Liverpool Zero Waste will be providing free pastries for everyone, plus there will be free tea and coffee for adults before heading out on a guided pebble hunt!

How will the pebble hunts work?

Both pebble hunts will run for two weeks, from Tuesday 13 August to Friday 30 August. You can follow the hunt from any point on the trail map.

Both Speke and Garston maps are available to download from our website or you can pick up a physical copy for free from any of the community centres listed below:

Speke

  • The Market Place, Parklands, Speke, L24 0TY
  • Reach, Speke Library, Parklands, Speke, L24 0TY

Can you find them all?

Each pebble found will have a QR code on the back. When you find a pebble, tick it off on the map. Take a selfie with the pebble and email it to us at communications@southliverpoolhomes.co.uk or tag us in a post on Facebook to be automatically entered into our 25th birthday draw, and you will be in with a chance to win a £50 Love2Shop voucher!

Don’t forget to put the pebble back where you found it so that the whole community can enjoy the hunt.

The winners will be contacted by Friday 6 September 2024 by email.
