Louise Bell from Speke has been coming to Reach to see Danielle from The Big Help Project for the last few months where she has received support to find work.
Louise has been out of work since 2011 and was nervous about the prospect of finding work again. She was first introduced to Reach when she called into South Liverpool Homes’ offices and mentioned to Diane, one of South Liverpool Homes’ customer team, that she was looking for a job. Diane told her all about Reach but Louise said that she felt too nervous to call over so Diane came with her. She said that this really helped her to make that first step.
Louise said that Reach is ‘ideal as it is local’ as other courses that she has been on to help her find work have mainly been in the city centre which is sometimes inconvenient. She said that in the short time that she has been visiting Reach, she has received more support than she has in years from other employment courses.
Louise said that Danielle has helped her with so much during the time that she has spent with her, including creating a CV, searching and applying for jobs, plus help with interview techniques. She said that she feels relaxed when she visits Reach, which means that she feels confident that she can ‘talk easily and tell Danielle anything’.
The informal sessions and relaxed atmosphere mean that Louise has confided in Danielle as well as receiving the support to find work. She said that these sessions have really made her feel more confident and that she is ‘ready to do something for myself’.
Today Louise has had an interview for a company that she is really excited about, and is feeling positive that she will be working soon due to all of the support that she has received to help her get to this stage.
