Colin ‘ecstatic’ after finding work through Reach

Published: 16 April 2018

Colin Loughran from Speke has recently received help from a range of Reach partners to find work. And as a result he has been offered a warehousing job in Speke and starts his new role this week.

He has been out of work for five weeks and says that he found this very difficult. “I hate being out of work, it’s been a slog but I’m ecstatic, getting the job was like winning the lottery,” said Colin.

Colin heard that there were people that could help him to create a CV in Reach so he called in and asked how he could receive support.

He was referred to both The National Careers Service and the Include IT Mersey programme who helped him to create an e-mail, build a CV and apply for a job.

Within three days of applying for this job, Colin was invited in to an interview. He was then offered the job and said that he was “speechless” when he was told the news as he did not think that he had been successful.

He found coming in to Reach very useful as there were a range of different people that were able to help him.

“The people in Reach were all friendly and I feel like I’ve made new friends,” said Colin. “I could come in at any time and there was always someone there that would go out of their way to help me”.
